Ingredient Substitutions For Diabetic
Compiled six lists of basic foods required daily by every diabetic. The lists, somewhat expanded to be more helpful. Remember, any food may be chosen from one list and substituted for another food within the same list in the amount specified.
MILK contains: Carbohydrate –12 grams; Fat –10 grams; Protein –8 grams; Calories -170
Milk, Whole 1 cup (8 oz.) – 240 grams
Milk, Evaporated 1/2 cup – 120 grams
Buttermilk 1 cup – 240 grams
Milk, Skim 1 cup – 240 grams (You may add 2 fat substitutes when you use one cup of skim milk or buttermilk made from skim milk)
