Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients :

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 tsp. chopped garlic
  • 2 tsp. chili flakes
  • 3 cups pureed canned tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. ground cumin
  • salt, to taste

Cooking Procedures :

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet.  Add onions, garlic and chili flakes.  Sauté for 2 minutes, or until onions soften.
  2. Stir in tomatoes, vinegar, sugar, chili powder, cumin and salt.  Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until thickened.
  3. Makes about 2 cups.
