Sweet and Sour Sauce I

This is a versatile sauce. It can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a week.

Ingredients :

  • 3/4 cup white vinegar (or cider vinegar)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. ketchup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili pepper, minced (optional)
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch dissolved in 1 tbsp. of water
(Measurements For Cooking)

Cooking Procedures :

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan; mix thoroughly. Bring to a boil, reduce heat; let simmer until it thickened. Remove from heat and let it cool; serve.
  2. Makes about 1 cup.
